Sasa Kalajdzic could do a lot in terms of wages next summer – regardless of whether he stays with VfB Stuttgart or goes to another club. “We know how good he is. We will hold talks with Sasa by the summer at the latest, either before or after the European Championship,” said VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat picture.
Kalajdzic’s contract runs until 2023, but VfB is willing to extend it for another year and increase its salary accordingly. “If Sasa should get offers where he can do much better, then we are able to offer something against it and get a contract extension for a year,” said Mislintat about the contract situation with the ÖFB striker.
14 goals in 28 Bundesliga games speak for themselves. In the 2019/2020 season, Kalajdzic suffered from a cruciate ligament rupture and missed the game. “We didn’t sign anyone for his position, we always believed in him. He’s giving that back to us with all his heart and soul,” said Mislintat, delighted with the two-meter man’s performance.
“It is not that we are currently throwing peanuts at Sasa. If he plays a lot and well, he can already grow financially, there are opportunities for improvement within his current contract,” said Stuttgart’s sports director.
