West Ham United’s successful run: Under the eyes of the porn actress

West Ham United surprisingly fought their way to the Champions League starting places in the Premier League in the past few weeks. The team benefits from their balance and is cheered on in the stadium by a former porn actress.

“Lesbian Nurses”, “Horny Housewives on the Job” and “Naked Neighbors”: These are the names of some of the porn films in which Eve Vorley starred at the turn of the millennium. In real life, her name is Emma Benton-Hughes (55), is the partner of West Ham United’s majority owner David Sullivan (71) and has been a director on the club’s board since mid-January.

Professionally, the two have to do with each other for the second time, after all they once worked together in the porn industry and got to know each other. Sullivan accumulated a fortune of over one billion euros in this division and in 2010, together with his business partner David Gold, took over the majority stake in West Ham.

Now, eleven years later, Sullivan Benton-Hughes appointed his son Dave and a childhood friend of Gold and his son-in-law to the board. The club did not give any official reasons for appointing the quartet or information about their future responsibilities, but they are in fact an open secret.

“All four are West Ham fans and want to watch football,” said Sean Whetstone, who runs the blog “West Ham Till I Die”, in an interview with SPOX and goal. “The current Corona regulations of the Premier League state that each club can send ten directors to a game. The four people were only appointed directors so that they can go to the stadium in accordance with the regulations. They have nothing with everyday business to do.”

Why Emma Benton-Hughes Was Named Director

Sullivan had evoked significantly greater anger among many fans when he pushed through the move, which was finally completed in 2016, from the Boleyn Ground, which has been used for over 100 years, to the London Stadium, which was built for the 2012 Olympic Games. From its ranks, only selected fans who have been promoted to directors such as Benton-Hughes are currently allowed to follow the team’s amazing run of success.

After 24 matchdays, West Ham is fifth in the Premier League and is only not on a Champions League starting place because of the worse goal difference compared to Chelsea. West Ham has never made it into the premier class, and the club has only been represented eight times in international business. The greatest success is the win of the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1965 in the final against TSV 1860 Munich.

There was no indication that West Ham is currently on course for international business – and that is due to coach David Moyes (57). He led the club into the middle of the table in the 2017/18 season, then left it and was brought back after the dismissal of his successor Manuel Pellegrini in December 2019. “That decision was uninspiring,” says Whetstone. “But David taught us all better.” Moyes first secured relegation and then converted the team into a successful unit according to his ideas.

The previously loaned central midfielder Tomas Soucek (25) was signed by Slavia Prague for 16.2 million euros, his former team-mate and right-back Vladimir Coufal (28) followed him for six million euros. Center-back Craig Dawson (30) from Watford FC and left winger Said Benrahma (25) from Brentford FC, whom West Ham bought him for 23.1 million euros in winter, were loaned. All four have made a decisive contribution to the current success story.
