The European Football Union (UEFA) presented the trophy for the new UEFA club competition Conference League on Monday. The 57.5 centimeter high and 11 kilogram heavy trophy consists of 32 axes – one for each team in the group stage of the competition – that wind upwards in a streamlined manner from the base.
According to UEFA, the design is based on the curved trajectory of a football towards the goal. The base and upper part of the trophy are made of brushed brass, galvanized and have a matt stainless steel effect. The appearance is completed by axes made of polished silver. The competition will be held for the first time in 2021/2022.
“We want to make our competitions more inclusive so that clubs and fans have the chance to dream and play for a European title,” said UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin. That is why the Europa Conference League was launched. Ceferin: “UEFA consists of 55 national associations and it is important to give clubs as many associations as possible the chance to be involved in European competitions for as long as possible.”
