U21 European Championship: false start for title contenders England and France

The title contenders England and France made a false start at the U21 European Championship. The English team around the young star Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been courted several times by Bayern Munich, surprisingly lost 1-0 (0-0) against Switzerland at the beginning and is already under pressure.

This also applies to France after an equally surprising 1-0 (0-0) against Denmark. Only the best two teams in the four groups move into the knockout phase.

Portugal, on the other hand, showed no weakness, defeated Croatia 1-0 (0-0) and is now level with Switzerland at the top of group D. Hudson-Odoi, who plays at Chelsea under German team manager Thomas Tuchel, stood on Started on Thursday but couldn’t prevent the defeat.

In the French group C, Russia had presented a sovereign 4-1 (3-0) against Iceland at the start. Jacob Bruun Larsen, known from the Bundesliga, initiated the victory of the Danes, he prepared the goal of Anders Dreyer (75th).

The German U21s started successfully in the tournament on Wednesday. The selection of DFB trainer Stefan Kuntz defeated Hungary 3-0.
