U21 national soccer player Ridle Baku dreams of participating in the “big” EM with the senior national team in the summer after his double at the start of the EM in Hungary and Slovenia.
“There is nothing greater than being there. That is the next level that you can reach, and that’s where I want to go,” said Baku on Friday ran.de.
The Wolfsburg-based Baku had scored two goals and prepared one at the start of the U21 European Championship in a 3-0 win against Hungary. Should Joachim Löw nominate him in the summer, however, participation in the knockout round of the U21 tournament, which begins at the end of May, would hardly be possible.
The final will take place on June 6th, the EM starts five days later. The 22-year-old is the only player in the current U21 squad who has already played in the senior national team.
Baku liked the idea of being able to play under a national coach, Stefan Kuntz. “You should never say never, anything is possible in football. I’m curious. Of course I would be happy to see each other again,” said Baku.
