Child prodigy Youssoufa Moukoko had to pass when the German U21 national team started the European Championship against Hungary. The 16-year-old only sits in the stands at the match in Szekesfehervar due to muscle problems.
“Our doctors are optimistic that we can do that in the next few days,” said DFB coach Stefan Kuntz before kick-off ProSieben.
According to Kuntz, the German physios already had contact with Moukoko’s club Borussia Dortmund. “It’s better if he stays outside,” said the DFB coach. The second group game will take place on Saturday against the Netherlands, three days later it will be the final against Romania.
Striker Moukoko is in the U21 squad for the first time and could become the youngest player in the history of the DFB team at the EM. At the tournament in Hungary and Slovenia he is by far the youngest player of all 16 teams.
