The top of the EU Commission has severely criticized the establishment of a European Super League. “We have to defend a value-oriented European sport model based on diversity and inclusivity,” tweeted the Greek Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas.
Previously, twelve European top clubs had decided to found a Super League and thus triggered an earthquake in international football. The clubs from Spain, England and Italy say they want to remain part of their national leagues and play the competition during the week. The clubs are nevertheless on a confrontation course with UEFA, which had previously threatened with a ban on the clubs and players.
