Sandro Ingolitsch sustained a complex knee injury in Sunday’s game against FK Austria Wien.
More detailed investigations at the Styrian Accident Hospital in Graz have shown that the 23-year-old has torn the anterior cruciate ligament, the inner ligament and the meniscus.
Ingolitsch is already on Tuesday morning by Dr. Jürgen Mandl is operating, the team of doctors anticipates a downtime of around nine months.
“The diagnosis is incredibly bitter and has confirmed our worst fears. The club will do everything possible to support Sandro as best as possible on the way back. The entire SK Sturm wishes him all the best for the operation and a speedy recovery,” says managing director Sport Andreas Schicker.
When the score was 0-0, Austria-Kicker Pichler hit Ingolitsch’s knee with a stretched leg, and the 23-year-old had to be brought off the field on a stretcher. The game was also over for Pichler, the striker who had been substituted at half-time left the field with a straight red after just nine minutes.
