Schalke 04 had a corona case before their catch-up game at Hertha BSC on Wednesday (6 p.m. in LIVETICKER). As part of the daily quick test, one of the relegated players tested positive for COVID-19.
S04 announced this on Monday without giving the name of the professional concerned. All other tests were negative. The miners also canceled their planned team training and immediately carried out an additional series of PCR tests, the results of which are expected on Tuesday morning.
The Revierklub could “not answer at the moment” whether the corona case would affect the catch-up game against Hertha. Originally, Schalke wanted to go to a quarantine training camp that was mandatory for all teams from Tuesday.
The team doctor and hygiene officer Patrick Ingelfinger will contact the responsible authorities after the results of the PCR testing and, if necessary, discuss and initiate further measures, it said.
