Shock moment for Spain’s record champions Real Madrid: In its Estadio Santiago Bernabeu there was a small fire on Wednesday evening in the course of the renovation work.
In the evening, the flames broke out in a side area of the main stand of the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, apparently large amounts of foam had caught fire in the arena that was being renovated.
A visible column of smoke rose, but the fire brigade quickly reached the centrally located stadium and brought the situation under control. The club confirmed this to the newspapers Marca and As.
The Santiago Bernabeu has been extensively renovated since June 2019. The project is scheduled to run for three and a half years and will cost more than 500 million euros.
