RB Leipzig’s managing director Olaf Mintzlaff faces a strenuous journey to the final on May 23 in Berlin after his team’s victory in the semi-finals in the DFB Cup. After placing a bet, the 45-year-old rides his bike for a good cause in the capital.
“I’m not a racing cyclist now, so it’s a bit of a challenge for me,” said Mintzlaff in the ARD after the 2-1 win after extra time at Werder Bremen: “But my colleagues here on and off the pitch have left a lot of nerves and I will also manage the 180 kilometers on the bike.”
RB can win the first title in the still young club history in Berlin. “We were there once in 2019, now we want to take something with us,” said Mintzlaff. Two years ago, the Saxons lost 3-0 to Bayern Munich, the club of Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann from the summer.
