The president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi succeeds Andrea Agnelli, who resigned Sunday to start in the Super League.
After the European Super League fiasco, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi took on even more importance on Wednesday April 21. Indeed, the president of Paris Saint-Germain was elected at the head of the European Association of Clubs (ECA). A mark of confidence for the leader who supported UEFA and more particularly its president, Aleksander Ceferin, during these three difficult days.
“I am honored and humbled to have been nominated as the new President of ECA by the members of the committee. Leadership, unity and integrity have never been more important than in those times“, declared Nasser Al-Khelaïfi in the official press release issued by the ECA. He succeeds Andrea Agnelli, who resigned from his post on Sunday to become the vice-president of the European Super League, already aborted even before being launched.
The ECA is made up of 214 members, including at least one club from each of UEFA’s 53 national federations. It is supposed to represent the interests of clubs in Europe.
