In the tax affair at the DFB, the longstanding league president Reinhard Rauball is apparently no longer being investigated. This reports the Southgerman newspaper. The proceedings against the former DFB general secretary Helmut Sandrock had also been discontinued. According to the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor, the “initial suspicion” was not confirmed in both cases, wrote the SZ on Wednesday.
The investigation would continue against the four other accused, the former DFB President Reinhard Grindel and the current Vice President Rainer Koch, Treasurer Stephan Osnabrügge and Secretary General Friedrich Curtius.
On October 7, 2020, the officials’ houses were searched. Rauball, President of Borussia Dortmund, was accused of involvement in “serious tax evasion” in his role as former DFB vice-president. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the DFB should not have properly declared income from perimeter advertising at national team games in 2014 and 2015. It should go to 4.7 million euros.
