Premier League: Arsenal win derby against Tottenham – ManUnited defend second place

Arsenal FC won the London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 (1-1). Man of the evening at the Emirates Stadium, however, was Spurs’ goalscorer Erik Lamela (29). In the battle for the Champions League places, Manchester United defended their narrow lead over Leicester City.

Lamela delivered a stroke of genius against the Gunners and a potential goal of the year when he carried a direct acceptance by Rabona into the far corner from eleven meters on the left corner (33rd) – a simply sensational goal. Lamela had previously been substituted on for the injured Heung-Min Son.

Apart from that, the guests did not go offensive for a long time: Arsenal created top-class chances and equalized in the person of Martin Ödegaard (44th), after the break Alexandre Lacazette scored the winning goal with a penalty (64th). Lamela then had another appearance, but this time an ugly one: within seven minutes he picked up two yellow cards and flew off the pitch. In the table, Arsenal are in tenth place with 41 points, the race to catch up for the Spurs (45) has stopped in seventh place for the time being.

In the fight for the premier class, the table runner-up Manchester United celebrated a narrow 1-0 home win over West Ham United. Unlucky Craig Dawson decided the game with an own goal in favor of the Red Devils. With 57 points United now has nine points more than West Ham in fifth place, the Hammers have played one game less.

Behind United, Leicester City kept pace with a comfortable 5-0 over the bottom of the table Sheffield United and with 56 points also has the best chance of playing the Champions League in the coming season. Man of the day at the Foxes was Kelechi Iheanacho with three goals (39th, 69th, 78th), plus a goal by Ayoze Perez (64th) and an own goal by Sheffield’s Ethan Ampadu (80th).
