Injured since November, Gerard Piqué succeeds in making talk about him after an interview which is controversial in Spain.
While he is still away from the field after being severely hit in the knee last November on the lawn of Atlético de Madrid, Gerard Pique could be suspended. Without being on the pitch, the defender of FC Barcelona makes a lot of talk about him. During an interview with the YouTuber DJ Mariio last week, Pique did not mince his words on La Liga referees: “ A former referee, I don’t remember who it is, maybe Iturralde, said that 85% of the referees are for Madrid (Real Madrid, note). This is a statistic that has been given, you can check. How are they not going to whistle for Madrid? Unconsciously, but how can we not think that they are going to be more on one side than the other? In the end, if you support a club… I totally respect the professionalism of the referees. I know they try to do the best job they can, but when a moment of doubt comes … “.
According to Cadena COPE, the Competition Committee of the Spanish Federation opened a case against the Spaniard following these statements. These comments would undermine the honesty and professionalism of the referees. Already withdrawn until March, Gerard Piqué could thus see his absence extended after the possible suspension which should be pronounced.
