Officially! Andreas Herzog is the new Admira trainer

FC Admira signs Austria’s record team player Andreas Herzog as their new head coach. The 52-year-old receives a long-term contract. The Südstädter reported on Monday.

For the 103-time international, the commitment is a return to his roots. The former Werder and Bayern legionnaire started his career in the offspring of the Südstädter before he made the leap to Rapid.

“With Andreas Herzog we want to give the strategic reorientation of Admira a clear direction. The focus in the future will primarily be on youth development. This is very important to Andreas Herzog. He himself started his professional football career at Admira and is now one of them direct role model for many in the team and therefore exactly the right man for this task, “explains Admira President Philip Thonhauser.

Born in Vienna, after his active playing career he was team boss assistant at the ÖFB, U21 team boss, assistant to Jürgen Klinsmann in the US national team and most recently team boss of Israel.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge at Admira – the club where it all started for me. FC Flyeralarm Admira stands for excellent youth work, as well as for passion and energy. We want to tackle this exciting task in the same way in the future: with heart , Joy and willingness to take risks, with an open eye towards the future. We want to live up to our name in the new season and raise the alarm in the league, “says Andreas Herzog.
