Relegated Schalke 04 have signed Polish central defender Marcin Kaminski for the coming season in the 2nd Bundesliga. As the club announced on Thursday, the 29-year-old is moving to the Knappen free of charge from VfB Stuttgart.
He signed a two-year contract. Kaminski is already the fourth external newcomer to the Royal Blues. “We are very happy to have found another anchor player for the new Schalke team in Marcin Kaminski,” said sports director Peter Knäbel, “he will be a great asset to our team.”
Before Kaminski, Schalke had signed midfielders Danny Latza (Mainz 05) and Victor Palsson (Darmstadt 98) as well as striker Simon Terodde (Hamburger SV) for his first second division season since 1990/91. In addition, the Gelsenkirchen team equipped the midfield talent Florian Flick with a professional contract. Kaminski played 60 games in the 1st and 2nd league for VfB. In the 2018/19 season, the former international was loaned to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
