ÖFB team: Martin Hinteregger is not fit, Marcel Sabitzer is examined

Before the international matches against Faroe Islands and Denmark, the ÖFB had to accept a setback: defensive boss Martin Hinteregger will not be fit for the World Cup qualifying games.

The Eintracht legionnaire has now left the squad for good. But there is also good news: Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch can move into the ÖFB camp – the central defender is fit.

It is still unclear whether Marcel Sabitzer can be used. The RB Leipzig star is struck. “He will be examined after our return, here we have to wait,” says the ÖFB. Sabitzer injured himself in team training and had to pass against Scotland on Thursday.

“Sunday is a must win, but those are always the difficult games, but we still have to win the game,” said team boss Franco Foda against the Faroe Islands.

What is certain is that Foda rotates his starting XI. Other players should also get the chance on Sunday. “We will certainly make one or the other change. But that was the plan one way or the other. In this respect, there will be one or the other fresh force on Sunday.”
