Phillipp Mwene has not extended his expiring contract with 1. FSV Mainz 05 and will leave the 05ER. The Bundesliga team confirmed that on Thursday. Mwene was last called up to Franco Foda’s provisional ÖFB team for the European Championship.
The 27-year-old Austrian, who came to Bruchweg from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in 2018, has played 30 competitive games for FSV in three years.
“We had already found an agreement with Phillipp, but he made a different decision before signing the contract. We regret that very much, but we wish Phillipp all the best for his future and thank him for his commitment to Mainz 05,” said 05 sports director Martin Schmidt.
It is not yet known where Mwene will play in the future.
