Italy’s record champions Juventus Turin qualified for the Champions League at the last minute, even without superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. In Serie A, coach Andrea Pirlo’s team won 4-1 (3-0) at FC Bologna in the season finale and jumped from fifth to fourth place in the table. Juve benefited from the fact that SSC Napoli did not get beyond a 1: 1 (0: 0) against Hellas Verona.
Behind champions Inter (91), AC Milan (79) finished second with a 2-0 (1-0) at Atalanta Bergamo (78) and pushed the team around German international Robin Gosens to third. Behind Juventus (78), Naples (77) finished fifth and has to enter the Europa League.
Four days after winning the Cup, Juventus made everything clear before the break. Federico Chiesa (6th), Alvaro Morata (29th / 47th) and Adrien Rabiot (45th) scored for the Bianconeri. Riccardo Orsolini (85th) was successful for Bologna. Ronaldo sat on the bench for 90 minutes.
Turin’s big win would have been useless if Napoli had won alongside Milan. Inter and Bergamo had already secured a place in the Champions League before matchday 38.
