Michelle Ackerley announces pregnancy
LONDON, UK — BBC presenter Michelle Ackerley has revealed she is four months pregnant, following what she described as an “emotional rollercoaster” involving infertility and endometriosis.
The beloved Morning Live host shared the news during a heartfelt segment on the BBC One programme. Introduced by her co-host Gethin Jones, Ackerley confirmed with a beaming smile, “I am four months pregnant… I still can’t quite believe it myself. Very, very happy.”
The studio audience responded with warm applause, as Ackerley, 40, thanked everyone for their support. She also shared a light-hearted moment about her pregnancy so far, saying she’s been waking up at 3 a.m. and jokingly nudging her husband, Ben Ryan, saying, “This is what we’ve got to get used to—no sleep!”

Ackerley and Ryan, a performance director at Brentford FC and former rugby coach, were married last year. In an Instagram post following the announcement, she reflected on how the journey to this point was far from easy.
“Even at the start of this year, I was preparing for yet another endometriosis procedure,” she wrote. “The news of falling pregnant really came as a massive surprise to both of us. We still can’t quite believe it.”
Ackerley, who is also known for her work on Crimewatch and Watchdog, has been increasingly vocal about her personal battle with endometriosis, a chronic condition that affects around 1.5 million women in the UK, according to Endometriosis UK. The condition can cause painful periods, fatigue, and in many cases, infertility.
“Feeling part of a community—especially when it comes to women’s health—can really make a difference,” Ackerley said.
Her openness has resonated with many viewers, particularly those navigating similar challenges.
With the baby due in October, Ackerley and Ryan are preparing for what she calls their “next chapter,” filled with cautious excitement and deep gratitude.
