Agent Mino Raiola, who represents Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba among others, spoke about his difficult relationship with the Red Devils and their former coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
He had clashed with Ferguson when Pogba United left for Juventus in 2012. The Scottish coaching legend (from 1986 to 2013 head coach of United, d. Ed.) Accused Raiola of pushing Pogba to change. “When Ferguson criticized me, that was the biggest compliment I could be given,” said Raiola The Athletic .
He continued, “Ferguson is used to people who keep saying, ‘Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.’ After Ferguson left, Manchester United club bosses proved I was right by bringing Pogba back because I never wanted Paul Pogba to leave, Ferguson didn’t believe in Pogba. “
Pogba, who moved from Le Havre to United’s youth team at the age of 16, made his Premier League debut under Ferguson, but was only used sporadically as a young talent. At Juve, however, he was set shortly after his move and developed into a world-class player.
Since Pogba returned to Manchester in 2016, Raiola has been fueling speculation about his protégé, his relationship with United is therefore considered to be complicated. The 53-year-old doesn’t care much.
Raiola doesn’t give a shit about Manchester United relationship
“I don’t give a shit if I never refer a player to Manchester United again. I’m not dependent on them. For us there is only one party that we care about: our players. And as long as our players like us, they do we just what we have to do. “
Pogba extended his contract in Manchester last October for a further year until 2022, but a new farewell in the summer is at least not ruled out. Raiola already agreed in December Tuttosport : “I can say that Paul Pogba’s time at Manchester United is over.”
In the current season, the 28-year-old world champion has so far scored five goals and made three assists in 30 competitive appearances. Pogba was recently out for weeks due to a thigh injury, but celebrated his comeback in the second leg of the Europa League second leg against Milan in mid-March.
