Kroos and Valverde, doubt for the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Liverpool due to injury

When Real Madrid was emptying the infirmary after some of the most complicated weeks in recent years, Toni Kroos and Federico Valverde have fallen injured, on the threshold of a decisive week for the team in which their presence is not certain. On Tuesday April 6, they host Liverpool at Di Stéfano, in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals; on Saturday the 10th, to Barcelona in the League, and on Wednesday the 14th he visits Anfield to close the European tie.

The origin of the ailments of both is found in the last league game, Saturday’s victory at Balaídos (1-3). The German retired on Saturday in the 70th minute of the match against Celta with hip discomfort. In any case, he traveled to the concentration of the German national team for their qualifying matches for the World Cup in Qatar. But according to the German coach, Joachim Löw, he was in no condition: “Our technical department has examined and treated Toni intensively. He would have liked to stay in the group, ”he said. The footballer returned to Madrid, where this Wednesday the club’s medical services will submit him to further tests. From first examinations, they conclude that it is doubtful that he will be able to play on April 3 at Di Stéfano against Eibar in La Liga, and they hope that he can be ready to face Liverpool three days later.

Fede Valverde was also injured against Celta. In his case, he suffers from a muscle problem in his right leg that has practically ruled him out for the league commitment against Eibar and makes his contest against Liverpool doubtful. This Tuesday, the Uruguayan did not train with the group on the grass, but exercised inside the facilities of the Real Madrid sports city.

The German and the Uruguayan join Mariano and Odriozola in the dry dock, who this Tuesday worked in and out of the gym, and Hazard and Carvajal, who are continuing their recovery process from injuries.
