The Japanese game developer Konami has secured the license of the Serie A club SSC Napoli for the soccer simulation Pro Evolution Soccer. The competitor from EA Sports officially announced this on Wednesday.
The partnership starts already for the coming season, from the 2022/23 season the Italians will then be exclusively playable at PES. This means that Napoli will be available for the last time in the simulation FIFA 22 (EA Sports).
“We are excited to launch this exclusive partnership with an innovative international brand like Konami to create content and unique experiences for Napoli fans,” said Seren Salvione, SSC’s Director of International Development: “This partnership is the latest step as part of the internationalization of the Napoli brand that the association has been working on in recent years. ” In addition, Konami has also secured the naming rights for the Partenopei training grounds.
EA has already lost Napoli, the third top Italian club to Konami. The Japanese had previously acquired the licenses for record champions Juventus Turin and Europa League semi-finalist AS Roma.
Both clubs are no longer listed under their official club names at FIFA, and the names of the players, the logo and the stadium had to be changed. While Juve competes under the name “Piemonte Calcio”, Roma is called “Roma FC”.
