Inter Milan: Police stop Scudetto party in Milan Cathedral Square

The Italian police interrupted the celebrations of the fans of the new champions Inter Milan on Sunday evening in the cathedral square. The security forces intervened after a group of fans started throwing bottles at police officers.

Because of the violation of the anti-Covid regulations, the personal details of 20 fans were recorded.

30,000 people celebrated the 19th Scudetto of the traditional Lombard club, many disregarding the rules of distance and the mask requirement. Shortly before the nightly curfew at 10 p.m., the party was finally broken up by the law enforcement officers.

The Mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, has been sharply criticized for the gathering of the crowds in the cathedral square. “Mr. Mayor, why are the Tifosi allowed to celebrate while we normal citizens have to adhere to the rules even when visiting a pizzeria?” Was a comment on Sala’s Facebook page. Some citizens asked Sala to resign because he had not prevented the Scudetto party.
