HSV – Sports director Boldt believes in the rise: “See an incredibly great will”

Jonas Boldt, sports director of the second division Hamburger SV, sees the long-time Bundesliga club well-equipped for the promotion campaign despite recent poor performance. “We see an incredibly great will,” said the 39-year-old at Sky Sports News: “Last year we still had some weaknesses, especially with long balls. That is not the case this season.”

Compared to the previous season, which the Nordklub finished in fourth place, the team was playing “more courageously” and “more goal-oriented,” emphasized Boldt. But with only six game days before the end of the season, “the head will play an increasingly important role. So far there has been a clear difference in the way things are done, even compared to last year.”

The defeat against Darmstadt 98 on the last day of the match “was very annoying and not planned,” explained Boldt. Nevertheless, it is “part of sport that words such as ‘damper’ or ‘setback’ are painted larger.” Nevertheless, the team should “definitely not let up.”
