Jan Zimmermann is the new head coach at the second division Hannover 96. The 41-year-old coach will succeed Kenan Kocak at the Lower Saxony for the new season, he signed a contract until June 30, 2023.
“Jan Zimmermann is an ambitious, ambitious trainer with a high level of identification for the city and the region,” said 96 managing director Martin Kind. Zimmermann is currently still in charge of the regional division TSV Havelse and could move up to the third division with the club from a Hanoverian suburb.
Under Kocak, the North Germans had missed the targeted Bundesliga return more than clearly. Therefore, the club announced at the end of April that it would terminate the contract, which was actually still two years old, at the end of the season. Zimmermann: “Hannover 96 is a great club and a great opportunity for me.”
Zimmermann made a name for himself as an amateur coach in the region in recent years. As Kocak’s successor, coach Steffen Baumgart from league rivals SC Paderborn was also traded, the ex-professional is currently still under discussion at 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV.
