The Denver Nuggets scored a bit and, a few hours before the closing of the NBA transfer market, they were reinforced with the incorporation of Aaron Gordon. The 25-year-old forward was one of the pillars of the Orlando Magic, a team that has bet to rebuild its roster and has traded three regular starters. The Nuggets, in exchange for Gordon, send to Orlando Gary Harris, RJ Hampton and a first round of the 2025 draft. The Nuggets, semifinalists last season in the Western Conference, occupy the fifth place in the current regular season and have also joined the center JaVale McGee, from Cleveland.
Orlando, second to last in the Eastern Conference, has made a clean sweep. He has also traded Montenegrin center Nikola Vucevic, their top scorer (24.5) and rebounder (11.8), and forward Al-Farouq Aminu to the Chicago Bulls. In exchange, he has received Wendell Carter, Otto Porter and two first-round future draft picks. The 30-year-old Vucevic began his NBA stint in 2011 when he was selected by the Sixers in 16th position in the draft. A season later, he began his stage with the Magic.
The third starter traded by the Magic is Evan Fournier, who joins the Celtics. The 28-year-old French forward, averaging 19.7 points this season, has been traded for Jeff Teague and two second-round draft picks.
The Clippers, a title favorite and third in the Western Conference, have sent Lou Williams to Atlanta to get Rajon Rondo. The 35-year-old guard who won the title in October with the Lakers signed for two years with the Hawks shortly after, but did not adapt and his numbers were very low, with 3.9 points and 3.5 assists. Low Williams, 34, had 12.1 points and 3.4 assists in season four with the Clippers.
Miami incorporates Victor Oladipo and transfers Kelly Olynyk and Avery Bradley to Houston. Oladipo, star in Indiana Pacers, after a serious injury, signed last summer for Houston. The 28-year-old forward has averaged 21.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5 assists for the Rockets. Miami, a finalist last season, also seizes the services of 32-year-old Serbian forward Nemanja Bjelica, from Sacramento, who hosts Maurice Harkless and Chris Silva. The Heat are also among the candidates to sign LaMarcus Aldridge, the 35-year-old center who has reached an agreement to terminate his contract with the San Antonio Spurs.
There was a lot of hype surrounding the Kyle Lowry situation. The point guard was said to be leaving the Toronto Raptors. But he finally remains on the team he was champion with two seasons ago. Who does leave the Canadian team is Norman Powell, who goes to Portland, in exchange for Gary Trent and Rodney Hood.
The Sixers seize the services of George Hill and Ignas Brazdeikis and trade Toney Bradley and Austin Rivers to Oklahoma City. Dallas recruits JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli and sends James Johnson and Wes Iwundu to New Orleans. Sacramento incorporates Delon Wright, in exchange for Corey Joseph, who lands in Detroit.
