Coach Christophe Galtier from the new French champions OSC Lille announced his departure on Tuesday. He will not fulfill his contract, which is valid until 2022, said the 54-year-old in an interview with the French sports daily L’Equipe.
It was only on Sunday that Lille made the Ligue 1 title win perfect.
“I’m just convinced that my time here is behind me,” said Galtier. He also confirmed that the league rivals Olympique Lyon and OGC Nice as well as the Italian first division club SSC Napoli are interested in his commitment.
Galtier has been the head coach at OSC Lille since December 2017, which played big this season and dethroned the French series champion Paris St. Germain. Galtier was voted coach of the season. The club from the north of France celebrated the last championship in 2011.
