French clubs they will not lend to their players foreigners to play matches with their national teams outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) during the next period of international matches, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) announced this Wednesday.
The decision was made this Wednesday by unanimity by the first and second division clubs, indicated the LFP in a statement, in which it is specified that apply a FIFA circular of February 5, 2020 on global travel restrictions caused by the health crisis.
The clubs consider that players traveling outside the EU in this international period, which will start after next weekend, they are not exonerated from serving a quarantine upon their return, so they decided do not lend them to the national teams.
Because of the pandemic, FIFA authorized clubs not to lend to their internationals national teams if they were quarantined.
The decision it will affect mainly several African teams, who have many players in the French championship, and who disputes the final stretch of the qualifying rounds for the Africa Cup of Nations to be played in early 2022.
The decision taken by the LFP does not affect French internationals, who have to play two matches outside the EEA next week in the qualification phase for the 2022 World Cup, on the 28th against Kazakhstan and on the 31st against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The French Football Federation (FFF) maintains contacts with the French Government so that players do not have to quarantine upon return of these two duels. To do this, you can impose a bubble to avoid contacts outside the group while traveling.
