Luis Figo, former player of, among others, Barcelona and Real Madrid, was very tough with the new Super League and assured that the project is a “greedy and insensitive movement” that “It would spell disaster” for the “grassroots, for women’s football and for the wider football community.”

In two messages published on their social networks, the legend of Portuguese and world football, winner of the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2002, expresses his rejection of competition who intend to launch twelve of the most powerful clubs on the continent.

“This so-called ‘Super League’ is anything but ‘Super’,” says Figo, who says it only works “to interested owners, who stopped caring about their fans long ago, and with total disregard for sporting merit. Tragic.”
