In an interview with the Sports picture Provided information about his plans as future chairman of the board of directors of FC Bayern. SPOX and goal take a closer look at the statements of the 51-year-old.
On the one hand, the enormously high transfer fee of up to 25 million euros, on the other hand, the long contract term until 2026 – with the commitment of Julian Nagelsmann, FC Bayern has set an exclamation point in two ways.
No FCB coach has recently received a five-year contract. Even “visionary” Jürgen Klinsmann was only signed for two seasons in 2008. In general, most Bayern coaches only “survived” two to three years – although those responsible had hoped for Niko Kovac, for example, to ensure continuity in the coaching chair.
As is well known, the project failed after just over a year. With his former assistant coach Hansi Flick, everything that worked from a sporting point of view should get better. Nevertheless, it did not change the fluctuation in the coaching position.
With Nagelsmann, who was born in Bavaria, the bosses wish a new era should arise. The 33-year-old comes from Landsberg am Lech in Upper Bavaria, and his family lives in the Munich area. It is “perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said the future coach. In any case, he did not hide his Bavarian DNA in Leipzig, where he often greeted the players with the “Griaß di” which is common on the Isar.
FC Bayern – Kahn: “High fluctuation prevents development”
The association doesn’t have to worry about the embodiment of the Mia-san-Mia feeling. At “his” FC Bayern, Nagelsmann faces major tasks in the coming years. Players like Manuel Neuer (35) or Robert Lewandowski (32) are not getting any younger and will have to be replaced in the future. This is another reason why it is important for the club to have long-term protection on the sidelines.
With Benjamin Glück (34) and Timmo Hardung (31), Nagelsmann is followed by two assistants from Leipzig to Munich. “They have already come with me from Hoffenheim and are moving on with me. That has been agreed with the club,” he explained.
How ESPN wants to have learned, he also hopes to convince Alfred Schreuder of a change as well. Nagelsmann worked with the former Hoffenheim coach from 2016 to 2018, Schreuder has been an assistant coach at FC Barcelona since 2020.
Just like Flick, Klose is said to have differences with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. “For me personally it’s not a problem at all that the club has not spoken to me yet. What really makes me think is how people are communicating with each other,” he complained recently in the picture: “To have respect for each other, even if you don’t always agree, that is absolutely necessary! Uli and Kalle have made this club a world club because they always wanted FC Bayern and not personal vanities!”
Since Hansi Flick is expected to inherit Joachim Löw as national coach, it is conceivable that Klose will accompany him to the DFB. The 42-year-old’s contract expires in the summer.
With his statements, Kahn has made it clear how great the trust in the sports board still is. Certainly, the dispute with Flick Salihamidzic lost some of its credit, but due to the triple season there is currently no need to change anything on the post.
The bosses do not share the opinion of some fans that Flick was solely responsible for the success. Because even before the successful coach was in office, Salihamidzic had put the squad together significantly. Kahn and Co. have not forgotten that – knowing full well that the 44-year-old was wrong in many a transfer (Bouna Sarr, Alvaro Odriozola, Douglas Costa) and will have to prove himself further in the coming months.
