FC Bayern Munich has apparently officially declared its interest in signing Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann. According to consistent media reports, the clubs had started talks, the requested transfer should move in previously unreached spheres.
According to information from picture RB is said to have informed Munich that 30 million euros are to be paid for the services of the 33-year-old, who is still tied to the Red Bulls until 2023. Such an amount has never been paid for a coach in world football.
Before the Leipzig win against Stuttgart, neither RB managing director Oliver Mintzlaff nor sports director Markus Krösche wanted to answer the reporter’s questions. When Nagelsmann asked whether there was a new development, he smugly explained: “Maybe there is a new Currywurst, and that’s why they’re not here.”
In ther picture on Sunday CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had stated that talks will be started in the coming days, in which the current trainer Hansi Flick is also involved. He has asked for an early termination of his contract. “If we are to meet Hansi’s request, all parties have to work together to find a solution that FC Bayern is also satisfied with.” After all, they are talking about “a trainer who has achieved something historic with us and whose work we are very happy with”.
After the European Championship, Flick could inherit Joachim Löw as coach of the German national team, whose time at the DFB ends after 15 years. However, since the association has declared that it will not contact any successor candidate who is still under contract with a club, Flick would have to agree to a separation with FC Bayern beforehand. The FCB does not want to let its successful coach go free of charge, with the income Nagelsmann could at least partially be financed.
