Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, CEO of FC Bayern, has spoken about the future of FCB coach Hansi Flick, who is known to want to leave the record champions. At the same time he took sports director Hasan Salihamidzic under protection.
“If we are to meet Hansi’s request, all parties must work together to find a solution that FC Bayern is also satisfied with,” said Rummenigge Picture on sunday. The 65-year-old went on to explain: “At least we are talking about a coach who has achieved something historic with us and whose work we are very happy with.” Rummenigge confirmed that the club would sit down in the coming two-week break and discuss the future of the coach.
“I told the team that I informed the club during the week that I wanted to get out of my contract at the end of the season,” Flick announced after the 3-2 win over Wolfsburg – unlike the FCB bosses agreed. The board of directors “disapproved” of Flick’s behavior in a statement.
Flick, whose contract runs until the summer of 2023, is looking at the vacant position of national coach in the summer, according to media reports. In addition, several European clubs are said to be interested in him. The reason for Flick’s premature departure is mainly due to the dispute with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, whom Rummenigge took to protect.
FC Bayern: Rummenigge protects Salihamidzic
Some fans of the record champions have started a petition for the sporting director to be kicked out. The “pro Hansi Flick, Brazzo out” initiative calls for Salihamidzic’s “immediate resignation” and had more than 71,000 supporters on Sunday morning.
Salihamidzic recently received support from President Herbert Hainer: “FC Bayern are firmly and firmly against hostility towards Hasan Salihamidzic. We condemn personal attacks and incitement in the strongest possible terms, there is not the slightest place at Bayern.”
