Thanks to national player Ilkay Gündogan, Manchester City are heading towards the double. The sovereign leaders of the Premier League reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup thanks to a goal from Gündogan (84th) with a 2-0 (0-0) at league rivals FC Everton. ManCity is Borussia Dortmund’s quarter-final opponent in the Champions League.
Gündogan, who was in the Citizens starting line-up, was successful with a header and continued his series of goals for team manager Pep Guardiola’s team. He last scored 2-0 in the premier class against Borussia Mönchengladbach during the week. In the 89th minute, Gündogan was replaced. Shortly afterwards, ex-Bundesliga professional Kevin De Bruyne (90th) made the decision in Liverpool.
Previously, FC Southampton, team of team manager Ralph Hasenhüttl, had already qualified for the semi-finals with a 3-0 (2-0) at AFC Bournemouth. Nathan Redmond (45th + 1 / 59th) and Moussa Djenepo (37th) met for Southampton.
On Sunday, the quarter-finals will be completed with the duels between the Thomas Tuchel team, Chelsea FC and Sheffield United (2.30 p.m.) and between Leicester City and record champions Manchester United (6.00 p.m.). The semifinals will be on 17./18. April.
