The Viennese-born Mert Müldür has played himself in the focus with strong performances for Serie A club Sassuolo. A direct transfer is not an issue for the defensive player – although three top clubs are showing interest.
In the summer of 2019, Müldür moved from SK Rapid to Sassuolo in Serie A for 4.7 million euros. Since then, the 22-year-old has played 54 games for the Italians and five internationals for Turkey.
“There are always talks with top clubs in Italy and England,” reveals Müldür’s advisor Max Hagmayr Kronen newspaper. “It always failed because of the transfer fee.” But: “A transfer is currently not an issue.”
Tottenham is said to have already expressed interest from England. In addition, Napoli and Atalanta are said to have kept an eye on the right-back, who is under contract with Sassuolo until 2024.
“He feels very much at home here. There is a very good defensive development with him. Nowhere else can you improve defensively and tactically as in Italy,” explains Hagmayr.
