Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo leads defending champion Portugal’s squad at the European Football Championship. In addition to the attacker from the Italian record champions Juventus Turin, coach Fernando Santos in Raphael Guerreiro from DFB Cup winner Borussia Dortmund and Frankfurt’s Andre Silva also called two Bundesliga professionals into his 26-man squad for the finals (June 11 to July 11).
The former Munich Renato Sanches from the French champions OSC Lille is also there. Portugal are second German opponents in Group F on June 19 in Munich. Other opponents of the European champions in the battle for the round of 16 tickets are outsiders Hungary (June 15) and world champions France (June 23).
Nine players from the Portuguese squad earn their money in the English Premier League – three with champions Manchester City and even four with Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Portuguese champion Sporting Lisbon has three players.
