National player Robin Koch has high goals for the European Championship (June 11th to July 11th). “We have the potential to become European champions. Because we have a young and hungry team. You need a little luck at a tournament like this. If we have that on our side, we can definitely become European champions,” said Koch in the Sport1-Podcast.
The 24-year-old from the English first division club Leeds United took a longer break after a knee operation in December. Koch wants to use the international break to “regain the necessary fitness”.
He is “in dialogue” with national coach Joachim Löw and the coaching team. They would have given him “the feedback that they have been completely satisfied with my previous appearances at the DFB and that I have shown my performance”.
Participation in the European Championship is “a huge goal” for the former Freiburg resident. In the course of the tournament he would like to “also become an important player. I want to participate and influence the game”.
