Kevin Kampl is firmly convinced that RB Leipzig would have deserved their first title win. With a win on Thursday in the DFB Cup final against Borussia Dortmund, the Saxons can bring in the first silverware in the club’s young history since 2009.
It would be “wonderful” and “deserved,” said Kampl. “It’s not like we get players every year who have an individual value of 70 or 80 million euros. Rather, they are young, talented players who are growing here and becoming top players,” said the Slovenian about the work of his club, which football traditionalists still regard as a nouveau riche upstart.
The 30-year-old also hopes for the victory for coach Julian Nagelsmann. “He did an amazing job here for two years,” said Kampl.
Since his move to Bayern became known, “he continues to work just as meticulously here, continues to accelerate and tries to pull everyone along,” reported Leipzig’s veteran.
