Celtic Glasgow loses another cup game after five years

Record winner Celtic Glasgow lost a game in the Scottish FA Cup for the first time since April 2016. The defending champion failed in the round of 16 by a 2-0 (0-2) win at arch rivals Glasgow Rangers and will end a season without a title for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

The last time Celtic lost a cup game was in the semifinals of the 2015/16 season against Rangers. In 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 the team not only won the trophy that has been played since 1873, but also the triple of the championship, FA Cup and league cup.

The Rangers are already established as champions. In the league cup, however, team manager Steven Gerrard’s team had already failed in the quarter-finals at FC St. Mirren.
