Cup winner Borussia Dortmund expects a corona-related loss of around 75 million euros for the current financial year. The listed Bundesliga soccer team announced this in an adhoc announcement on Tuesday. By winning the cup and qualifying again for the Champions League, however, the negative effects of the pandemic were kept within limits. BVB’s 2020/2021 financial year ends on June 30th.
Managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke had already announced a loss of 70 to 75 million euros at the shareholders’ meeting last year. However, he had not ruled out that it could be even higher due to the effects of the pandemic.
In the 2019/20 financial year, Dortmund had posted a minus of 43.9 million. At the start of the new Bundesliga season in August, the clubs are hoping for at least some of the spectators again.
