BVB: Emre Can defends Borussia Dortmund’s supposedly weak season

Emre Can has defended BVB’s previous season. “There is always bad talk in the media, as we play this season,” said the defensive all-rounder from Borussia Dortmund at the DFB press conference before the upcoming World Cup qualifying game against Iceland on Thursday (8.45pm in LIVETICKER).

“Many underestimate that. But we are in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup, in the Champions League quarter-finals and can qualify for the Champions League. If we can do that, we can already say that it was a successful season,” said Can .

BVB is currently fifth in the Bundesliga table and is four points behind fourth place in the Champions League. After the 11th matchday, Borussia parted ways with coach Lucien Favre. Since then, Edin Terzic has been coaching BVB on an interim basis.

Under Terzic, Borussia Dortmund have won eleven out of 20 games (4 draws, 5 defeats). For the new season Marco Rose, currently coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach, will take over for Terzic, who will then take on the role of assistant coach again.
