Borussia Mönchengladbach: Coach Rose feels with seriously injured Doucoure

Marco Rose has given the 22-year-old full support after Mamadou Doucoure suffered another serious injury.

“He had to take a lot, and now that comes along. We were all very shocked, including him. He’s not doing so well at the moment,” said the coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach after the 5-0 win against Arminia Bielefeld.

Defender Doucoure had torn his Achilles tendon during training and will have to undergo another operation in the coming week. Since moving to Gladbach in 2016, the 22-year-old has only played two Bundesliga games due to numerous injuries.

“He took a wrong step in training. That is really dramatic. The boy has exceptional talent, is a top character. It is important that he has people by his side who stand by him. We will do everything, so that he feels comfortable and sees light at the end of the tunnel. We will give him all the support we can give him, “said Rose.

Before the home game against Bielefeld, the Borussia professionals had posed for a team photo in which they held Doucoures jersey with the number four in the cameras. Striker Breel Embolo also held up a Doucoure jersey after his goal to make it 1-0.

“We took the photo for him because he had a tragic story,” said sports director Max Eberl on Sky: “Now he has fought his way and has to be operated again. You can’t put into words what this boy has to cope with. It makes me proud when the team plans such an action itself and implements it itself. “
