Midfielder Tiago Dantas and winger Douglas Costa will leave Bayern Munich after the end of the season. The German record champions officially announced this on Friday afternoon.
Costa, who played for Bayern from 2015 to 2017, had loaned FCB from Juventus Turin in October last year. The 30-year-old Brazilian is still under contract with the Italians until 2022, but he should be sold. Most recently, there was a return to his home club Gremio Porto Alegre in the room, but this is apparently in danger of bursting.
Costa was unable to meet expectations after his return to Munich from Turin. In 20 competitive appearances for FCB, the 31-time national player only scored one goal and three assists.
Meanwhile, Dantas had also been on loan from Benfica since October, and Bavaria is now not taking the purchase option of 7.5 million euros. The 20-year-old Portuguese had only played twice in the Bundesliga and also played seven times for the second team in the third division. In Lisbon, Dantas still has a contract until 2024.
“Douglas Costa and Tiago Dantas won the German championship again this season with us. We would like to thank both of them and wish them all the best for their future”, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic is quoted in the message.
