Alicia Vikander in The Lady from the Sea
London, UK — Acclaimed Swedish actress and producer Alicia Vikander, known for her award-winning performances on screen, is set to make her much-anticipated stage debut in 2025. Vikander will take on the role of Ellida in The Lady from the Sea, a bold reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic, adapted and directed by Simon Stone at London’s Bridge Theatre.
Vikander rose to international prominence with her Academy Award-winning performance in The Danish Girl (2015), earning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She followed this with standout roles in Ex Machina, The Light Between Oceans, and the action-packed Tomb Raider franchise, showcasing her versatility across genres.
Her most recent work includes The Assessment, opposite Elizabeth Olsen, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and garnered Vikander a nomination at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). Additional recent credits include Firebrand, Rumours, and the critically praised TV mini-series Irma Vep.

In her stage debut, Vikander portrays Ellida, a woman grappling with a turbulent inner life after the reappearance of a former lover forces her to reevaluate her marriage and identity. The play delves into themes of autonomy, love, and emotional confinement, marking a significant moment in Vikander’s already celebrated career.
Beyond acting, Vikander is the founder of Vikarious Productions, through which she continues to shape meaningful narratives and champion fresh talent. Her upcoming film projects include Hope (directed by Na Hong-jin), The Wizard of the Kremlin (directed by Olivier Assayas), and The Last Day, in which she stars alongside Victoria Pedretti.
As Vikander prepares to step onto the stage for the first time, anticipation is high for a performance that promises to be as powerful and nuanced as her work on screen.
