Dynamo Dresden is keeping a direct return to the 2nd Bundesliga in its sights. Coach Markus Kauczinski’s team won the Saxony derby at FSV Zwickau 2-0 (2-0) on matchday 25 and is at the top of the table with 47 points. Pascal Sohm (38th) and Christoph Daferner (45th + 2 / hand penalty) secured the third Dynamo win in a row shortly before the break.
However, Dresden’s pursuers did not show any nakedness either. FC Ingolstadt defeated 1. FC Kaiserslautern 1-0 (0-0) through a late goal from Justin Butler (85th) and are only three points behind Dynamo. Two points behind is Hansa Rostock, the former Bundesliga club beat Waldhof Mannheim 1-0 (1-0).
Behind the top trio in 1860 Munich gave up. The Lions lost 1: 2 (0: 1) at 1. FC Saarbrücken and are now four points behind the promotion relegation place. City rival Türkgücü is one point better after the 1-0 (1-0) at bottom of the table VfB Lübeck.
The MSV Duisburg managed to break free. In a duel between former first division clubs, the zebras defeated SpVgg Unterhaching 2: 1 (1: 1) on coach Pawel Dotschew’s debut and left the relegation ranks at least temporarily with 24 points. Connor Krempicki (79th) gave Dotschew a perfect debut. Ironically, his ex-club Viktoria Köln can push MSV back to 17th place on Sunday.
