The SC Paderborn has the successful run of the FC. St. Pauli ended. The Bundesliga relegated coach Steffen Baumgart won the Monday game of the 25th matchday in Hamburg 2-0 (1-0) and can go into the hot season without any relegation worries.
Chris Führich (7th) and captain Sebastian Schonlau (69th) scored the Ostwestfalen (34 points) for their ninth win of the season after three games without a threesome. With eight remaining games, Paderborn is separated by twelve points from a direct relegation zone.
The best second round team from St. Pauli, which suffered a defeat for the first time since the end of January, also has a comfortable starting position with 32 points.
Paderborn put pressure on the Millerntor right from the start, and Führich stood free in front of the goal after a strong through pass and spiked the ball past Pauli keeper Dejan Stojanovic. Paderborn then remained the more active team, Dennis Srbeny (21st) could have increased.
Pauli had a hard time, Guido Burgstaller (43.) did not have more than one chance at first. After the break, Omar Marmoush (48th) tried from a distance, but SCP keeper Leopold Zingerle reacted brilliantly. Schonlau’s header then ensured further calm among the guests.
