SpVgg Greuther Fürth avoided a bitter defeat in the promotion race of the 2nd division with a show of strength. The Franks recovered at Darmstadt 98 on Friday from a 2-2 break deficit and hit back to make it 2-2. Thus, the Fürth conquered the second direct promotion place from Hamburger SV.
Eintracht Braunschweig collects point by point for relegation. The former German champions fought 0-0 against SC Paderborn and thus only lost one of their last nine games. The lead over the relegation place 16 (VfL Osnabrück) is at least temporarily four points.
The people of Fürth finally wanted to make amends for the embarrassing 0: 4 in the first leg, but they were immediately caught freezing again. Tobias Kempe (2nd) flicked a free kick over the wall to the inside post and into the goal.
Darmstadt then won more duels and did a lot of things right tactically. Fürth, the best away team in the league, did not come into play for a long time – Darmstadt’s top scorer Serdar Dursun (40th) scored his 18th goal of the season against his former club. Julian Green (69th) then made the connection, Fürth got stronger and stronger. U21 international Patrick Raum (75th) equalized.
In a weak game in Braunschweig, there was initially only one excitement: Eintracht striker Nick Proschwitz had fallen in the Paderborn penalty area, but the initially imposed penalty was not given according to video evidence (19th).
