Karlsruher SC’s hopes for advancement are probably buried. Due to a double mistake by keeper Marius Gersbeck, the KSC against Würzburg did not get beyond a 2: 2 (1: 2). The relegation of the Würzburger Kickers to the 3rd division is almost sealed.
Three games before the end of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga, the bottom of the league with 21 points is already seven points behind SV Sandhausen (28), who are three fewer games on the relegation spot.
Marvin Pieringer (36th) equalized for the Kickers after Gersbeck missed the ball with his fist at a corner. Kyoung-rok Choi (26th) had previously brought KSC into the lead. Dominik Kother (45 + 1) brought the hosts in the wildlife park back into the lead. Lars Dietz (90 + 3) took advantage of a huge mistake by Gersbeck in the final minute. The goalkeeper dribbled with the ball on his foot on the opponent. Nevertheless: Should Sandhausen win against Hannover 96 on Sunday (1.30 p.m.), Würzburg’s relegation would be certain.
“That was a lot of luck, which is of course a gift for me,” said Dietz after his late and strange equalizer Sky.
Choi scored from close range with a volley, just ten minutes earlier Christoph Kobald had missed the first chance for the more active KSC with a head. The compensation by Pieringer was favored by Gersbeck, who misjudged when running out. Kother then also took advantage of a rebound from Kickers goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann on the other side.
2-0 in Braunschweig: Aue as good as saved
Erzgebirge Aue, on the other hand, has brought relegation almost safely under wraps. The Saxons won their guest appearance at Eintracht Braunschweig after a significant increase in the second half with 2-0 (0-0). Braunschweig, on the other hand, has to get used to the idea of relegation.
Aue made a lot of pressure at the beginning of the game, but then eased off after a good quarter of an hour. The game went without any major highlights, the only chance to score had Aues Florian Ballas, who only hit the post of the Braunschweig goal in the 16th minute.
After the break, Aue increased the pace and took a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute. Pascal Testroet served Dimitri Nazarow, who pushed the ball into the far corner. Substitute Philipp Zulechner made the decision in the 82nd minute after Jan Hochscheidt’s preliminary work made it 2-0 at full speed.
Aue, who played the catch-up game against Karlsruher SC on Monday, improved to tenth place in the table thanks to the win. Braunschweig remains in 15th place and competes next Saturday at the current fourth in the table Fortuna Düsseldorf.
Braunschweig’s buffer on SV Sandhausen on the relegation place is only two points if there are three more games on the account.
