The program of the Blues has been modified following the detection of several cases of Covid-19 in the hotel which was to welcome them on the eve of the match against Ukraine. The France team will ultimately remain in Clairefontaine until their departure for Kazakhstan on Friday, the French Football Federation announced on Tuesday March 23.

The preparation of the France team, on the eve of facing Ukraine in Saint-Denis on Wednesday March 24 at 8:45 p.m., was disrupted due to cases of Covid-19 detected in a hotel where the Blues were to to stay, the French Federation (FFF) announced on Tuesday March 23.

“At the beginning of the morning, the staff of the France team was informed that several employees of the hotel in Enghien-les-Bains had tested positive for Covid-19”, explains the FFF in a press release.

The Grand Hôtel Barrière d’Enghien-les-Bains, in the Val-d’Oise, is the usual place to go green for the Blues on the eve of a match. The Blues were to go there in the morning but they will ultimately not go to Val-d’Oise. They will stay in their training center in Clairefontaine (Yvelines) “until Friday”, day of departure for Kazakhstan, where France plays Sunday March 28 (3:00 p.m.), also as part of the qualifications for the World Cup-2022.

As a result, the France team will not train on Tuesday at the Stade de France on the eve of France-Ukraine either, but will remain in its castle in Yvelines, the Federation said. The Blues, like all European nations engaged this week in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, must respect a strict protocol, without leaving a health “bubble” during their gathering, so as to avoid contamination and be exempted from septaine to their return to France.
